Oklahoma State Cowboys will be without their starting quarterback today. Spencer Sanders will not play against the Iowa State Cyclones.

Sanders will miss his second straight game. There has been some speculation from reports that suggest he may not return this season.

Gunnar Gundy will make his first college start against the Cyclones. Sanders will dress and be Gundy’s backup.

However, it is unlikely that Sanders will play. If Gundy gets hurt, head coach Mike Gundy will be forced to play Sanders or another player at the quarterback position.

Gundy gets the start over Garrett Rangel, who is doubtful for the game. Rangel started last weekend in the loss to the Kansas Jayhawks.

The redshirt freshman walk-on is the son of Mike Gundy. According to the Oklahoma State Athletic website, Gundy had several FBS offers but chose to play for his father instead.

Sanders has gone 157 of 288 for 2,177 passing yards in his senior season. He has thrown 15 touchdown passes and had five interceptions.

He also had 87 carries for 343 yards. Sanders also scored eight rushing touchdowns.
