No. 5 Georgia upsets top-ranked Texas for second win ever vs. Longhorns

The No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs have upset the top-ranked Texas Longhorns on Saturday evening. The Bulldogs won 30-15 over the Longhorns at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin, Texas.

The Bulldogs improved to 6-1 on the season. The Longhorns suffered its first loss, falling to 6-1.

This is Georgia’s second win ever in the series. Texas leads the all-time series 4-2.

This mega matchup was their first since the 2019 Allstate Sugar Bowl when the Longhorns won 28-21 over the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs’ previous win in the series came in the 1984 Cotton Bowl, which they won 10-9 on January 2nd, 1984.

Before the 1984 Cotton Bowl win, the Longhorns had won three straight in the series. This included a meeting in the 1949 Cotton Bowl, where Texas won 41-28 in Miami, Florida.

This was also the 100th win for Kirby Smart as the Bulldogs head coach.

Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck went 23 of 41 for 175 yards. He also had three interceptions.

Trevor Etienne had 19 carries for 87 yards and three touchdowns. Oscar Delp had two receptions for 45 yards.

Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers went 25 of 43 for 211 yards. He also had two touchdown passes and one interception.

Ewers was replaced by Arch Manning briefly. Manning, the young quarterback, went just 3 of 6 for 19 yards.

Quintrevion Wisner had 15 carries for 52 yards. Matthew Golden had three receptions for 77 yards.

Texas outscored Georgia 15-7 in the second half. Ewers hit Isaiah Bond for a two-yard touchdown reception. Following the score, Ewers hit Bond for a two-point conversion.

Ewers hit Jaydon Blue for a 17-yard touchdown reception.

Georgia’s Etienne scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown.

The Bulldogs led 23-0 at halftime. Etienne scored on a two-yard rushing touchdown.

Etienne scored on a 15-yard rushing touchdown. Peyton Woodring made three field goals.

Woodring first made a 33-yard field goal. He also made a 48-yard field goal. In addition, Woodring made a 44-yard field goal.
