Klay Thompson made his debut with the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night. Thompson was acquired in a blockbuster deal by the team, which turned out to be the largest multi-team deal in NBA history.
Thompson is a Golden State Warriors legend. He helped the team to several NBA Championships.
However, he is now a member of the Mavericks. He scored 22 points in the team’s 120-109 win over the San Antonio Spurs.
Thompson also had seven rebounds, one assist, and three steals.
The 13-year veteran scored 20-29 points 27 times last season, according to Basketball Reference. In his final regular season game, he scored 25 points in a win against the Utah Jazz.
Thompson hopes that he found a home with the Mavericks after the drama of last season. Initially, he was a starter for the team.
However, he would slump and Steve Kerr eventually moved him to the bench for some time.
Thompson was listed as a starter for the Mavericks against the Spurs.
The four time NBA Champion was the second leading scorer in the game for the Mavericks. Luka Dončić Led his team with 28 points.
Thompson went 7 of 13 from the field. The sharpshooter also went 6 of 10 from three-point range.
He went 2 of 2 from the free throw line.
