The Chicago Bears fired offensive Shane Waldron on Tuesday. He was axed after star rookie quarterback Caleb Williams has struggled.

Williams was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. His play has regressed in recent weeks.

The Bears have dropped their last three games. The team started 4-2 in their first six games.

Head coach Matt Eberflus will promote a new offensive coordinator for the rest of the season. At press time, no interim offensive coordinator has been named.

Waldron was hired by the team earlier this year as their offensive coordinator. He spent the previous three seasons as the Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator.

When the Seahawks decided not to keep Pete Carroll, his staff became available to work elsewhere. And that’s what led him to become available to the Bears.

Waldron is the second offensive coordinator fired this season. The Las Vegas Raiders fired offensive coordinator Luke Getsy on November 3rd.

Getsy was hired on February 6th by the Raiders. He was the Bears offensive coordinator in 2023.

The New York Jets did not fire Nathaniel Hackett. However, he was demoted from being play caller, as Todd Downing took over.

The Bears are averaging 19.4 points per game. That is 24th-best out of the 32 teams.

The team had two games, where they scored more than 30 points. They had 36 points in a game against the woeful Carolina Panthers.

The following week, the team had 35 points against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

However, in their last three games, the Bears had 27 points. They had 15 points in a heartbreaking loss to the Washington Commanders.

The team had nine points against the Arizona Cardinals. And this past weekend, the Bears had 3 points in a loss to the New England Patriots.
