Nets’ D’Angelo Russell out indefinitely after knee surgery

Brooklyn Nets point guard D’Angelo Russell is out indefinitely following arthroscopic knee surgery. This is the second Nets point guard to go down with an injury.

Jeremy Lin, who also plays point guard, went down with a season-ending injury earlier this season. There is no timetable for Russell’s return at this time.

The Nets will try to re-group, as they may attempt to make a trade for a point guard. Right now, they’ll likely have other players fill-in for the time being.

He missed two games this season. He first missed the game on October 25th in a win against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Then, recently, he missed a game in a loss against the Boston Celtics on November 14th. He will also miss tonight’s game against the Utah Jazz at home in New York City.

Russell last played for the Nets on November 11th in a loss to the Jazz on the road. He had 26 points in 32 minutes.

This season, he has appeared in 12 games with the Nets. He started all 12 games.

He is averaging 20.9 points per game in 27.7 minutes per contest. He also had 4.7 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.2 blocks per contest.

Russell was acquired by the Nets in the off-season. He was acquired in a deal that sent Timofey Mozgov to Brooklyn while Brook Lopez and rookie Kyle Kuzma went to the Lakers.
