According to reports, the Kent Island (Stevensville, Maryland) junior varsity boys lacrosse team had to end their season abruptly. A video emerged last week of an assault, as team members attacked one of their teammates.

The incident in question happened on April 13th. The Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating. No charges have been filed at this time.

“There were multiple people that were present during this assault, some of which we’ve identified, some of which we are attempting to identify. These folks would be categorized as witnesses, persons of interest, and suspects,” said Deputy Joe Saboury with the Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s Office.

The school announced on Friday that their season has ended, as they will forfeit the remaining games. While not every player was involved in the incident, the whole team is being punished.

The video was shared on social media, which school superintendent Andrea Kane, led to the cancellation of the season.

WMAR in Baltimore is reporting that several teammates put their genitals in the face of the student, who was allegedly assaulted. No students have been identified since this is a juvenile case.

“This type of behavior will not be tolerated for any athletic team or student group within Queen Anne’s County Public Schools,” Kane wrote, per the Gazette. “The behavior on the video, which was witnessed by thousands of people via social media and the news media, is not condoned and will not be ignored.”
