Rush Propst was fired by the Colquitt County High School on Thursday night. The football coach, who became famous from MTV’s Two-A-Days, learned his fate at a board meeting.
He was previously under investigation for “personnel issues.” For those “personnel issues,” he was placed on leave.
“Based on the result and all the evidence, I recommend the Colquitt County Board of Education permanently relieve Rush Propst as head football coach,” School superintendent Doug Howell said, according to The Moultrie Observer. “Together with any and all coaching duties such that from this day forward, Rush Propst will no longer have any coaching duties for the Colquitt County school system.”

Propst was the team’s head coach for the past 11 years. At Colquitt, he guided the team to two GHSA Class 6A Championships in 2014 and 2015.
In the 2015 season, the team also won the National Championship.
“The Colquitt County Board of Education considers student safety, welfare … to be an essential component of our responsibility to our system and our community,” Board Chairman Mary Beth Watson said. “The board will always make the choice that in its opinion is right and in the best interest of students. … I realize we live in a society where we expect to know every detail of every decision. But sometimes the details or decisions are not publicly available at the time the decision is made. … While it is natural to be concerned about the future of our football program, we have talented … student athletes … a supportive fan base and an administration that will give (them) every opportunity for success. Our community is a wonderful place to work. … Our program will persevere and thrive while meeting the needs of our students and our citizens.”
Before becoming the Colquitt County head football coach, he was the head coach of Hoover High School in Alabama. During his tenure there, he was part of MTV’s Two-A-Days feature, as the program profiled the football program.
The 61-year-old Ohatchee, Alabama native was the Hoover head coach from 1999 through 2007. He guided the team to five AHSAA Class 6A Championships in 2000 and again from 2002-2005.

Before being named the Hoover High football coach, he also coached one season at Alma Bryant High School, as their head coach, in 1998.
He also coached one season as the Alba High School head coach in 1997. Propst spent three seasons as the Eufaula High School head coach from 1994 through 1996.
He began his head coaching career at Ashville High School, where he was their head coach from 1989 through 1993.
