According to a Facebook post, Jerry “Monza” Johnston will not be competing at New England Dragway this weekend. The popular Street Outlaws driver will miss event No. 2 of the Street Outlaws No Prep Kings in Epping, New Hampshire.

The post said that Monza was experiencing severe back pain. And this caused him to have surgery on Tuesday.

An update to the post said that Monza was out of surgery as of 6:30 pm. It’s not clear if Johnston had the operation in Oklahoma City, or a surrounding town, or in another city.

“The surgery was successful with no complications,” the post said. “We will update everyone again once we know more.”

Also, with this operation, it’s not clear how long he’ll miss as the Street Outlaws No Prep Kings continue to tape their show. Last year, his 405 teammate James “Doc” Love suffered a heart attack and missed the Norwalk, Ohio event in October 2018.

Following this weekend’s event in Epping, Street Outlaws No Prep Kings will return to taping on June 14-15. This will be at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway in Madison, Illinois.

The series is then off for a month before going to Idaho in July. Once Monza is capable to return, we’re sure he’ll be back out there with his Street Outlaws family to compete once again.
