Red Sox hire Bloom to lead Baseball Operations

By Anthony Caruso III | Publisher

The Boston Red Sox have found their new leader in the Baseball Operations department. The team has hired Chaim Bloom to run that department.

He comes to the Red Sox after working with Division rival, the Tampa Bay Rays. With the Rays, he was last their Vice President of Baseball Operations.

Bloom takes over the position that was previously held by Dave Dombrowski. He was fired in September after the Red Sox struggled during the 2019 season.

In this transaction, Bloom goes from one of the lowest budget teams in baseball to one of the highest payroll teams. Despite being a low budget team, the Rays actually made the playoffs in 2019.
