The Southern California Trojans suffered a devastating blow on Friday night. The team’s starting running back Travis Dye suffered a significant injury.
He had to be carted off the field against the Colorado Buffaloes. The severity of his injuries is not known at this time.
Dye — who is in his first season with the Trojans after previously playing for the Oregon Ducks — had nine carries for 26 yards before his departure. He spent four seasons with the Ducks before transferring in the off-season.

“Prayers up for Travis Dye,” former Trojans running back Reggie Bush said in a tweet. “Wishing you a speedy recovery! You can’t replace a guy like that.”
With Dye being sidelined, head coach Lincoln Riley will have to turn to a senior and a freshman to fill the void. Austin Jones and Raleek Brown will get more time.
In the first half against the Buffaloes, Jones had two carries for eight yards.
Through ten games in his first season with the Trojans, Dye has had 145 carries for 884 yards and nine touchdowns.
Due to the injury, Dye will have just his second game at USC without a touchdown. He had scored in eight straight games.

There has been a huge drop-off in the backs behind Dye in the depth chart. While he leads the backs with 886 yards, Jones has just 269. Brown has had just 96 yards.
