“Our track has suffered a big loss but his family and friends a bigger one. We send our deepest condolences and prayers to the Liquori family during this difficult time. 🤍🪽🙏”

New Egypt Speedway was planning on competing on Tuesday night. However, due to a late medical emergency, those plans were put on hold.

The track’s Jessica Chamberlain posted an update in the early morning hours.

“Once again I would like to thank everyone for their understanding,” Chamberlain said in a Facebook post. “Our staff did a phenomenal job adjusting from putting on a show to wrapping it up. Our fans for coming out and not making a very hard situation worse as they left possibly disappointed and confused. Our drivers that came to put on a show and had to turn around and go home, I can only say thank you. Thank you all.

“Joey Liquori, the general manager, experienced a medical emergency prior to the show’s commencement. At this time he is in the care of a wonderful medical team and updates will be given with family approval. We can let everyone know that he is in a very critical timeframe. Every prayer and well wish is appreciated.”

According to their schedule, the track has the 8th annual Mr. Crate Classic for Saturday, July 20th. At press time, there is no announcement if the race will be postponed to another date.

“Racing is family,” Chamberlain added. “We were brought together a few weeks ago to support (a) racing family. On July 16th, we were brought together again to celebrate a legend of that family, the 747 owner John Chemidlin. Emergency struck one of our own and that family pulled together yet again and took action.

“There is no community like the racing community. I look forward to seeing you all again at the speedway. Please stay (tuned) as the schedule will have some adjustments while we navigate through this time. Keep your prayers coming for Joey and any/all racing families that can use them at this time.”
