Union dominate with a 4-0 win against rival D.C. United

Chester, Pa. — The Philadelphia Union put on a dominant performance against one of their rivals. The Union defeated the D.C. United 4-0 on Sunday night at Subaru Park.

This was the lone MLS game of the day.

With the win, the Union improved to 9-9-12 on the season. The team has 36 points, which is good for 9th overall in the MLS Standings.

The Union — who put themselves in a tough spot earlier this season — is currently in the playoffs with 36 points. They are two points clear of CF Montréal, which is in 10th place and has 34 points.

D.C. United are one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference. The team has an 8-9-13 record with 33 points.

According to Football Reference, the Union leads the all-time series with 20 wins. DC United has nine wins and there have been seven draws.

This was the first time there was a blowout win by the Union in a shutout since a 6-0 win during the 2022 season at Audi Field. That season, the Union also defeated the D.C. United at Subaru Park 7-0.

The Union began the scoring with a goal by Mikael Uhre in the 13th minute. Three minutes later, his teammate Dániel Gazdag scored.

After halftime, Tai Baribo scored in the 51st minute. Gazdag added a brace in the 70th minute.

The Union had nine shots on goal, while D.C. United had four.

D.C. United also picked up two yellow cards. Aaron Herrera picked up a yellow card in the 25th minute.

Late in the contest, Cristian Dajome picked up a card, as well, in the 90th minute.
