The Southern California Trojans (4-3) have been a mess as of late. However, they showed the distractions are over. At least for now.
The Los Angeles-based team took the Utah Utes (6-1) from the ranks of undefeated. The Trojans won 42-24 over the Utes at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles, California.
This is the team’s first win since they fired Steve Sarkisian due to his alcohol problems. Interim head coach Clay Helton picked up the win.

Trojans quarterback Cody Kessler went 21 of 28 for 264 yards. He had one touchdown pass.
Justin Davis had 16 carries for 66 yards and a touchdown. JuJu Smith-Schuster had eight receptions for 143 yards and a touchdown.
Utes quarterback Travis Wilson went 24 of 36 for 254 yards. He had two touchdown passes and four interceptions.
Devontae Booker had 14 carries for 62 yards. Britain Covey had seven receptions for 129 yards and two touchdowns.
USC outscored Utah in the second half. The Trojans outscored them 14-7.
Kessler hit Smith-Schuster for a 25-yard touchdown reception. Kessler also scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown.
Wilson hit Covey for a 66-yard touchdown reception.

The Trojans led 28-17 at halftime. Davis scored on a nine-yard rushing touchdown. Soma Vainuku scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown.
Ronald Jones also scored on an 18-yard rushing touchdown. Cameron Smith picked off Wilson and returned it for a 54-yard interception returned for a touchdown.
Wilson hit Covey for a 30-yard touchdown reception. Bubba Poole scored on a two-yard rushing touchdown.
Andy Phillips made a 53-yard field goal.
