Sports broadcaster Bob Costas has retired

Legendary sports broadcaster Bob Costas had announced his retirement. He informed The Athletic of his decision.

Costas had been a sports broadcaster for 42 years.

The 72 year old spent the bulk of his career with NBC Sports. He worked there from 1980 through 2019.

Costas worked 12 Olympic Games during his stint at NBC Sports. He served as the pristine host with these games from 1989 through 2016.

After Costas departed the company, Mike Tricio has served as the prime time host once he made the switch from ESPN in 2016.

He also worked for WSYR-TV (now WSTM-TV) and WSYR-FM radio in Syracuse, New York. After leaving Syracuse, he worked for KMOX radio in St. Louis, Missouri.

Following his exit from NBC Sports, he worked for TNT Sports and MLB Network. He also gave commentary to CNN.

The Athletic is also reporting they Costas will work for the MLB Network through limited emeritus work.
