Quarterback Carson Beck is not going directly to the NFL. He had said that he was going to enter the 2025 NFL Draft.

Now, he has changed his mind. Instead, he has now entered the transfer portal.

The Miami (Florida) Hurricanes are the favorites to land Beck, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. That would give the Hurricanes a quarterback for the 2025 as Cam Ward is leaving school for the NFL.

Ward actually pulled a similar move. After leaving Washington State, Ward announced that he had entered the 2024 NFL Draft.

A few weeks later, he changed his mind and attended the Hurricanes for the final season of his eligibility. He came back for one final season to try to improve his draft stock and receive NIL money.

If worked as Ward was a Heisman Trophy finalist. And he is rumored to be in the mix for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans.

Beck had surgery on his UCL injury right before Christmas. A short time later, Beck declared for the NFL Draft.

Todd McShay, who previously worked as a draft expert with ESPN, criticized Beck’s decision. Beck hoped to have the same success at his next stop as Ward did.

Gunnar Stockton is favored to be the Georgia Bulldogs starting quarterback in 2025. He replaced Beck in the SEC Championship game against the Texas Longhorns when Beck suffered his injury.
