Male, who fell at PNC Park, identified as former college football player

According to TMZ Sports, the fan, who was critically injured, following a fall on Wednesday night at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is a former college football player. The fan has been identified as Kavan Markwood, who is 20 years old.

TribLive is reporting that Markwood is fighting for his life. In the seventh inning when the Pittsburgh Pirates were hosting the Chicago Cubs, Markwood fell 20 feet from Clemente’s wall.

“Everyone at South Allegheny would say he is a hard-working, highly resilient young man,” the district rep, Laura Thomson, said. “He’s a fighter. He’s going to need that resiliency now.

According to the video circulating online, Markwood stumbled over the railing. It is not clear if alcohol may have been a factor despite Markwood being 20 years old. There are many people who do drink before they reach 21.

The police said on Thursday morning that Markwood is in critical condition. Markwood played college football at Wheeling University, where he was a linebacker in 2023.

He also played for Walsh University. Former Wheeling coach Zac Bruney told TMZ Sports that Markwood had left the program in 2024 to work.
