PA Sprint Car driver Riley Emig has passed away

Pennsylvania-based Sprint Car driver Riley Emig has passed away. No age was provided.

An official cause of death has not been determined yet. There is an unconfirmed social media post that suggests he was involved in a motorcycle accident.

“Race on in heaven, Riley,” Trey Hivner Racing said in a Facebook post. “Thoughts and prayers to the Emig family during this heartbreaking time.”

Social media is being flooded with memorial posts.

“At My Happy Place, IF It’s Racing Going On…I’ll Be There!!,” Jul Harris said in a Facebook post. “HAD a great night at the track!! 🏁 ✌ Say A Prayer For A Young Driver And His Family. Riley Emig lost His Life In A Motorcycle Accident Today. Racing In Heaven 🏁 💔 ♥ Rest Easy Riley Emig #33!!!!🏁 💔”

Emig’s last public post on his Facebook page was talking about racing. He drove a 410 Sprint Car.

“Had an amazing night at Lincoln Speedway with showing a lot of speed once again!,” Emig said in the post. “It feels good to run up front and it wouldn’t be possible without everyone that works so hard to get us to the race track every week!

“Some people don’t know how difficult it is in the racing world today and without Josh, Kevin, Russel and so many more people it wouldn’t be possible to live my childhood dream!”

Green Horizon Grill in Abbottstown, Pennsylvania posted a tribute to the young man. Emig was a regular at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown.

“Rest in Peace Riley!,” they said in the Facebook post. “Please keep the Emig Family in your thoughts and prayers.

“Brett, Lauren, Haley, Ally, you are special members of this team 💚 We go to bed with heavy hearts and have you in our thoughts and prayers! Please hug your loved ones a little tighter tonight! Tomorrow is not promised.”

Asking for prayers for my brother and sister, Brett Lauren Emig, as well as our entire family, for their sudden loss of their son Riley! Rest easy #33, we were some of your biggest fans and we will miss you!
