The Professional Bull Riders (PBR) have parted ways with their TV partner Merit Street Media. Dr. Phil launched Merit Street Media earlier this year.

Right now, the PBR has not announced their next move.

“PBR events scheduled to be carried on Dr. Phil’s Merit Street Media, including the Merit+ App, will now be available live and free on RidePass on Pluto TV, PBR’s YouTube channel, PBR’s mobile app, and PBR’s app on connected TVs, including Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku and Google TV, free to fans,” PBR’s CEO Sean Gleason said in a Facebook post. “PBR has parted ways with Dr. Phil’s Merit Street Media because they breached our contract by failing to pay rights fees owed, giving us no choice and very little time to find a new home for PBR.

“We apologize for this inconvenience, which is completely outside our control. As we seek a long-term home for PBR broadcast to complement CBS, we will share further information about additional viewing options when available.”

Before joining Merit Street Media, the PBR was part of the CBS network with their telecasts airing on the national CBS channel and the CBS Sports Network. Gleason did not say if they will go back to CBS.

The PBR started in April 1992. It is owned by Endeavor Group Holdings, Inc., which also owns the UFC and WWE through TKO Holdings.

For those who may not know, riders put their lives on the line to attempt to ride a bull for eight seconds. If they succeed, then they register a time. Whoever has the highest points total at the end of the event wins.
