According to the announcement, the show will be “bigger than ever.” There will be a new format with Massel leading the show.
The show was created by previous host Rich Christensen. The tagline for the show was “lose the race, lose your ride.”
With Christensen leading the show, after an inspection of the other team’s car, there would be a negotiation before the first race. This would typically be a deal for the starting position, like win by a car length, or if they could use nitrous or other potential handicaps.
Following an agreement being reached, the cars would do a burnout. Then, Christensen, would do an arm-drop start after he pointed to each driver.
At press time, it is not clear if Massel would keep this start or go to the modern version of a start, which includes the Christmas tree. If there was a photo finish, video footage would then be used to determine the winner.

A driver could face same violations under Christensen. However, at this time, we are not sure the new format of the series.
It’ll be interesting to see how Massel will juggle the hosting duties of PINKS with his NHRA duties. Then add in his racing schedule and his TV show duties that he has.
