Before the NFL Draft in April, Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones said that he was working on “substantive trades.” Now, we know about this deal. Are there more trades looming? We’ll have to wait and see.

The 24-year-old Pickens had issues in Pittsburgh. He has been known to be a headache.

In December 2024, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said that Pickens needed to grow up. The Steelers had overlooked his problems due to his immense talent— but eventually gave up on him.

Pickens will be opposite of star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. This fills one of the needs of the Cowboys.

He takes the role that Brandin Cooks had in 2024 before signing with the New Orleans Saints in free agency.

He was a second-round draft pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He’s entering his fourth season in the NFL.

The Cowboys will get a look at Pickens before they have to decide what to do with him after the 2024 season when he’ll be a free agent.

He has appeared in 48 games. Pickens made 40 starts.

Pickens had 174 receptions for 2,841 yards. He also had 12 touchdown receptions.

In his final season in Pittsburgh, he had 59 receptions for 900 receiving yards. He also had three touchdown receptions.
