The Flyers also acquired Jakob Pelletier. The team also added a 2025 second-round draft pick and a 2028 seventh-round draft pick in the deal.
Kuzmenko waived his no trade clause to join the Flyers. He initially had them on his 12-team no trade clause.
In exchange, the Calgary Flames added Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost.
The deal had to be held up until after the Flames defeated the Anaheim Ducks 4-1 on Thursday night. Once that happened, the league held a trade call to make it official.
Kuzmenko has been traded on the same day for the second straight year. Last year, he was moved from the Vancouver Canucks to the Flames.
The Russian was moved with the rights to Hunter Brzustewicz, the rights to Joni Jurmo, a 2024 first-round draft pick, and a 2024 conditional pick that turned out to be a fourth-round pick.
In exchange, the Canucks received Elias Lindholm.
Kuzmenko, 28, has appeared in 37 games. He had four goals and 11 assists for 15 points for the Flames.
He has a $5.5 million cap hit this season. He will become a free agent after the season.
Pelletier, 23, played part of three seasons with the Flames. This season, he appeared in 23 games.
He had four goals and seven assists for 11 points this season. Following the season, he will be a restricted free agent.
Farabee, 24, had signed a six-year, $30 million deal with the Flyers in September 2021. After this season, he has three more years at a $5 million salary each.
Frost, 25, signed a two-year, $4.2 million extension with the Flyers in September 2023. He will become an unrestricted free agent after the season.
Farabee appeared in 49 games. He had eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points.
Frost appeared in 48 games. He had 11 goals and 14 assists for 25 points.
