Waiting No More: Sterling Sharpe goes into the ’25 Pro Football Hall of Fame

Sterling Sharpe had been waiting a very long time. On Thursday night, he finally got what he hoped that one day might come.

His brother Shannon Sharpe informed his brother of the Pro Football Hall of Fame announcement. The younger brother went into the Hall of Fame in the Class of 2011.

The older Sharpe is one of two offensive players in the Class of 2025. He joins Antonio Gates, the star tight end for the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers.

Also in the class was pass rusher Jared Allen, who was the first player announced. Eric Allen, like Sharpe, had a very long wait before going into the Hall in this particular class.

The Sharpe brothers will now become the first pair of brothers, who will be enshrined into the Hall this summer in Canton, Ohio. 

The Chicago Illinois native played his entire career with the Green Bay Packers before an injury cut short his career. He was a five-time Pro Bowler and a three-time All-Pro when he did play for the Packers.

He played seven seasons. The former South Carolina Gamecock appeared in 112 NFL games.

He had 595 receptions.. He had 8,134 yards and 65 touchdowns.

Sharpe also had 23 carries for 72 yards.

In his final game, Sharpe had 132 receiving yards in a 34-19 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on December 24th, 1994.

Sharpe had a career-high 169 receiving yards in his 29th NFL game. He had eight receptions for 169 yards and two touchdowns in a 17-16 win over the Buccaneers on December 3rd, 1989. 

He played in two playoff games in his career in 1993. He had 101 receptions in a 28-24 win over the Detroit Lions on January 8th, 1994. The following week, he had 128 receiving yards in a 27-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. 

Sharpe, due to being on injured reserve, did not play in the Packers two playoff games on December 31st, 1994 or January 8th, 1995.
