Chesterfield, NJ — Top Fuel Dragster driver Antron Brown celebrated his latest NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series Championship on Friday night in his hometown. The get-together took place on his family’s property.

Friends and family traveled through the snow to celebrate with the four-time champion at the family’s pole barn. According to his uncle Andre Brown — who is an NHRA Northeast Division Sportsman racer — there were at least 125-150 people in attendance.

“It felt really, really good to come home and see all my close family and friends,” Brown said. “And some people I haven’t seen in a few years, too. To come out and see everybody together, man, it was pretty incredible, for sure. It was definitely heartwarming. I was surprised of all the people that showed up.

“And it brought back some great memories from my childhood. All the way to where we’re at now, man. It just really resonated with me to see where we started to where we’re at now.”

He got to spend time with some relatives that he has not seen in a while due to his hectic NHRA schedule.

“It was a mix,” he said. “It was some family relatives that I haven’t seen for a few years. I saw my great-uncle. I saw my cousin Kevin. I saw my cousin Harry; my cousin Harry’s son.

“Harry Jr., man, I haven’t seen him in a long, long time. He brought his family out. His daughter, his wife. And it’s just a blessing to see when you get to come back and you have a get-together and see family members. People you just haven’t seen in a long time, man. It’s great to see them all back together.”

A bunch of his former classmates from Northern Burlington High School (Columbus, NJ) were in attendance.

“I saw my classmates, but I haven’t seen some in years,” he said. “Like, my next-door neighbor, Amy Sennett. I haven’t seen her since she was a little, little girl, man. And she grew up like a little sister. I treat her as a little sister that I haven’t seen in years. And it was pretty awesome to see her and to see how she’s grown up.

“And she has a family with four kids and a husband, man. That’s the crazy part. I haven’t seen her since she probably was, like, 12, 14 years old.”

Brown knew that his family was going to have a get-together for him. But he was surprised by the amount of people, who showed up.

“I knew that we were going to have a get-together, and I thought it was going to be a get-together with about 40 people,” he said. “I wasn’t expecting over 100 people. I don’t know how many was there, but it was a lot. I lost my voice. I’m still recovering, of course.”

Brown won his fourth Championship in November on the final day of the NHRA season. He won the Championship with a semifinal win over John Force Racing driver Brittany Force at the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals on Sunday, November 17th, 2024, at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip in Pomona, California.

He went 3.693 at 330.88 mph to get the win over Force. She hazed the tires early in the race, then shut it off.

Brown went on to win the race, as well. He defeated Doug Kalitta in the final round.

The 48-year-old secured his first Championship as a team owner when he won over Force. He launched AB Motorsports with the help of Don Schumacher Racing in 2020.

Then in 2022, the team went out on their own as a standalone team.

He also won the Top Fuel Dragster Championship in 2012, 2015, and 2016. Brown was the first African-American Champion in Drag Racing and Motorsports history after the 2012 season.

“It did, man,” Brown said about winning his first championship as a team owner and driver. “It really, really did. It was, I tell you what, I’ve been so blessed throughout this year in so many different ways, and if I’m going to tell you the truth, it’s the people you surround yourself with. And I’ve been very fortunate to have so many people stand by me, help me get through all the different situations I got through in my life. You know what I mean?

“And just doing this deal, like, I didn’t do this on my own, man. Forming AB Motorsports always was a dream of mine, but it was a vision, and to have all the people that come to us to jump up, to be a part of it, it’s been unreal.”
