Kyle Larson has won a Golden Driller for the third time on Saturday night. Larson won the Chili Bowl Nationals presented by NOS Energy Drink at the SageNet Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Larson, who had pole position to begin the A-Main feature, led all 40 laps. He even had a little mishap, as he went up on the wall and got almost sideways before correcting himself on lap 37 before a caution came out.

Yet, Yung Money was able to continue with his car in the Super Bowl of Midget Car Racing to get the win.

“Yeah, no doubt,” Larson said in the post-race interview. “It was just a very difficult racetrack, you know, to run the line that I was running. It was, you know, comes with a lot of reward with the risk you’re taking. So yeah, I messed up on the straightaway a couple of times. Honestly, I’m glad I kept going there because that caution saved me. And, it allowed it to be a little bit easier to run to the finish. I think if we stayed in traffic, Daison would have had a lot of opportunities to get, throwing stuff at me.

Then, yeah, when, I think it was Grant ran over Crouch, I had nowhere to go, ran over him and stalled. And I landed and said my please refire and, it refired. And, we got a couple of lucky breaks there, but, a great race car. Paul Silva has been working hard on the Midget, really (the) last three years. And, for as bad as they were here in 2022 with the same car to come away with a Chili Bowl win.”

The California native joins fellow NASCAR Cup Series driver Christopher Bell with three wins. Bell won in 2017, 2018, and 2019 — and returned this weekend after several years away.

Only Sammy Swindell and Kevin Swindell have more Golden Drillers. Sammy has five and Kevin has four.

The Silva Motorsports driver won his first Golden Driller in four years. This was his first win since the 2021 event. He also won the 2020 event.

Larson, the NASCAR Cup Series driver, was backed by EMI, Speedway, Flo Racing, HendrickCars.com, JVI Group, K&C Drywall, and Durst to make this week a reality. His win snapped Logan Seavey’s two-race win streak.

“It’s really cool,” Larson said, who has admitted that he likes racing at this event than the Daytona 500. “I mean, obviously all of them have been very meaningful and they’ve all, you know, came, with different challenges along the way. It took me 13 years to win that first one. Just mentally was tough to get over that hill. And I feel like since winning that, that first Chili Bowl, it’s really helped my career out and staying calm in moments like that. So that was a good one.

“And then, you know, the second one we won, we were, on defense, really the whole race. And then, you know, this one, the track was just so unique that it was, a challenge, you know, just to run, laps by yourself. So, (I) was happy. I felt like I put somewhat clean laps together and, I could glance at the big screen and they weren’t really showing us too much, but, yeah, still just, you know, you can make a mistake and it costs you two seconds. So I just was trying to limit that.”

This decade, Tanner Thorson also won in 2022. Since 2020, Larson has won three of the six Golden Drillers given out.
